Ann Curry

Ann Curry has worked as journalist for more than more than 45 years. She focuses her reporting on natural disasters, as well as war zones. Curry's father served as a sailor in the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Curry's parents bonded in Japan in Japan, where her father had been stationed following World War II. Due to her father's military service the family moved frequently. Curry graduated from high school within Ashland Oregon. Curry graduated in 1978, with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism in the University of Oregon. When she was a young woman she was exposed various cultures. They traveled to different areas like San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Ashland was her final high school. Her career in broadcasting began with an internship at KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. When she was 22, she was the first female journalist at the station. In Portland in Oregon, she was named anchor and reporter by KGW the NBC affiliate. After four years, she relocating to Los Angeles as a reporter for KBS-TV. The two Emmy Awards were won during the six years she worked for the KCBS-TV.
